A-7 Drivers, we have a clear deck!! The A-7 Corsair II Association is in the process of collecting video footage of all things A-7. One goal of this project is to develop a feature length movie that can be shown on The History Channel. Another goal of the project is to develop a video archive to maintain the rich history of the A-7.
The initial focus of this project is to interview Vietnam era A-7 drivers to capture any stories that you may want to pass along to future generations. Over time, the interview process will expand to A-7 history after the Vietnam conflict.
Greg "Wart" Stearns has the lead on this project. At Tailhook '13, Wart presented a video honoring the A-7 drivers who were POWs or KIA in the Vietnam war. You can view that video by going to the videos page (Click on "Vietnam A-7 POWs/KIAs"). Wart will be at Tailhook again this year and would like to schedule video interview times with as many of you Vietnam era A-7 drivers as time allows. If you are not camera shy and can spare 30 minutes while at Tailhook, please use the form below to contact Greg or you can contact him directly using his email address on the Members page (password required).
The link below is an example of an interview. Maybe it will jog some memories. Thanks to Mike Detchemendy, Rafe Arnott, Bob Arnold, Jim Doolittle, and John Leenhouts for either sitting for interviews, providing A-7 footage, or both!!
(The video may take a few minutes to load, depending on your connection speed. If you want to continue perusing the site while it downloads, I suggest right clicking on the "Download file" link and then click on "Open in new tab." When it finishes, you'll hear it and can switch to the other tab.)
